Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. Indian actress Tanushree Dutta has made serious allegations about exploitation within the entertainment industry, claiming that many newcomers are lured with dreams of fame but later face disturbing realities. In a recent interview, she said aspiring actors are often attracted with promises of becoming stars or landing major roles. However, once they enter the industry, some are allegedly pressured into meeting powerful individuals who may exploit their ambitions and vulnerability.
According to her, the glamorous image projected by the film world often hides a far more troubling reality behind the scenes. She noted that many young artists become emotionally broken after such experiences—some return to their hometowns while others end up trapped in difficult or unethical situations. Tanushree emphasized that stories of struggle and exploitation rarely surface publicly, as the spotlight usually remains on successful figures. She also stated that she has always chosen self-respect over career compromises and has never agreed to trade her dignity for opportunities.
Recalling a personal experience, she said she even ended a friendship with another actress who believed such compromises were acceptable. Tanushree concluded by urging aspiring artists to stay cautious of temptations and false promises, saying her intention in speaking out is to warn and protect newcomers from potential dangers in the industry.
