Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has recently raised the issue of leadership accountability and organizational restructuring while reviewing the party’s electoral performance. Speaking through various media platforms, he stressed that the party needs internal reforms and restructuring to move forward effectively. He also warned that if the current leadership fails to take responsibility, the party might be forced to make tough and unpleasant decisions.
Bhattarai’s statements have sparked criticism from Krishna Pathak, the Health Minister of Gandaki Province and a leader of the CPN-UML. Pathak accused Bhattarai of acting like an “agent influenced by certain power centers.”
While acknowledging that reforms within the party are necessary, Pathak argued that Bhattarai’s public remarks were inappropriate. In a social media post, he stated that although the party needs correction, Bhattarai’s “anarchic, intolerant, and highly prejudiced expressions” should be brought under disciplinary action.
Pathak is widely regarded as a close ally of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline within the party.
