Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. The Election Commission has officially declared Nepali Congress Party candidate Matrika Yadav as the winner in the Dhanusha-1 constituency. The announcement comes after disputes arose during the vote count when Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Kishori Sah Kamal’s candidacy had been invalidated, despite claims from her supporters about significant votes in her favor.
Initially, the Returning Officer delayed issuing Yadav’s certificate of election, prompting protests from the Nepali Congress Party. The Election Commission clarified that since Kishori Sah’s votes were not updated on the official website due to her disqualification, Yadav emerged as the leading candidate.
Kishori Sah had been placed on a blacklist, leading to her disqualification, and subsequently approached the court. The court’s final decision regarding her candidacy is expected to be announced on Friday.
With this declaration, the Election Commission has completed the announcement of winners for all 165 constituencies, along with the proportional representation vote count.
