Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. In Makwanpur’s Manahari Rural Municipality–1, Makri, a police team was attacked while trying to control drug use and a dispute. One police officer was injured, and during self-defense, a police officer fired a shot that injured a young man.
According to DSP Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson of the Makwanpur District Police, two suspects have been arrested: 24-year-old Sanjay Jimba and 35-year-old Ajay Thing, both from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–12, Ramnatar.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 8:50 PM after police received reports of drug use and a fight at the location. A police team led by Assistant Inspector Dil Bahadur Tamang from Padampokhari Police Post was dispatched. During questioning, Officer Tamang was attacked with a beer bottle, a knife, and a cleaver, leaving him moderately injured.
In self-defense, Officer Tamang fired a round from his pistol, hitting 19-year-old Sanis Titung from Hattigauda, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, in the right side of the abdomen. Both the injured officer and Titung were admitted to CMC Churehill Hospital in Hetauda.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested suspects and Titung had prior involvement in drug-related, theft, and other criminal cases. Further investigation is ongoing.
