Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu.  Nepal’s only dollar billionaire, Binod Chaudhary, has been ranked 1,982nd richest person in the world according to the latest global billionaire ranking released by Forbes. His total net worth is estimated at $2.1 billion, which is roughly NPR 302 billion (3.02 kharba).

In 2025, Chaudhary was ranked 1,763rd globally with a fortune of around $2 billion. Over the past year, his wealth has increased by about $100 million, pushing his total assets to the current level.

Chaudhary remains the only billionaire from Nepal and one of the very few in the South Asian region outside of India. According to Forbes, no other individuals from SAARC countries currently appear on the global billionaire list.

Earlier, in 2019, Chaudhary had reached 1,349th place on the list. However, his wealth declined slightly during the COVID-19 pandemic, before recovering again in recent years.

Meanwhile, the world’s richest person on the Forbes list is Elon Musk, whose wealth is largely connected to the automobile and technology industries. Larry Page ranks second on the global billionaire list.

Forbes also reports that most of the world’s billionaires come from countries such as the United States, China, and India.
