Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. Early updates from the ongoing vote counting in Nepal’s House of Representatives election suggest a possible shift in the country’s political balance. According to the latest tally, the Rastriya Swatantra Party is leading in the highest number of constituencies so far, while traditional parties continue to compete closely. At the same time, analysts say the growing presence of the Nepali Communist Party could indicate that it may emerge as a stronger political force than the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) in the future.
Based on the latest update, the Rastriya Swatantra Party is currently leading in 91 constituencies and has already won 2 seats. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress is leading in 8 constituencies and has secured 1 victory so far. The CPN-UML is leading in 7 constituencies, but it has not yet secured a confirmed win.
At the same time, the Nepali Communist Party is leading in 8 constituencies, which is slightly higher than the UML’s current lead count. This trend has led analysts to speculate that the unified communist force could potentially surpass UML in parliamentary strength if the trend continues.
In addition, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party is leading in 1 constituencies, while smaller parties and independent candidates are also competing in several areas. Vote counting for Nepal’s 275-member House of Representatives is still underway, and the final political balance will only be clear after the official results are announced.
