Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. China has congratulated Nepal and its people on the peaceful completion of the House of Representatives election. During a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning expressed satisfaction that the election was conducted peacefully and on schedule.
Mao Ning stated that China was pleased to see the election of members of Nepal’s Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives completed in a peaceful and orderly manner. She noted that China has always attached great importance to its long-standing friendly relations with Nepal and recalled that the two countries have consistently supported each other in safeguarding independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
She also said that China is ready to continue working with Nepal in the coming days to strengthen long-term strategic cooperation based on friendship, aiming at development and prosperity for both nations.
Earlier, the Election Commission Nepal officially announced that the parliamentary election had been successfully conducted, with around 57 percent voter turnout. Following that announcement, China extended its congratulations to Nepal.
China had also provided Nepal with approximately 4 million US dollars in financial assistance to support the election process.
