Prakash Kafle/ Kathmandu. During the House of Representatives election, two polling centers in Dang have been affected by a collective boycott. Locals from wards 1 and 7, which are part of the Banke National Park-affected areas, have staged the boycott. The affected polling centers are the District Polling Center and the Malai polling site.
The main reason for the boycott is the locals’ demand for national park and wildlife conservation. Chandra Bahadur Ragu Magar, coordinator of the Banke National Park Victims’ Struggle Committee and a member of Bawai Rural Municipality–1, stated that the boycott became necessary because their demands regarding the park and wildlife protection have not been addressed.
Local administration and election officials are working to maintain order and have urged voters to participate calmly and peacefully in the election process.
