Mumbai: In Group ‘A’ of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India registered a victory over Pakistan. India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs, securing its third consecutive win in the tournament.

At Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, Pakistan—chasing India’s target of 176 runs—was bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. With this win, India has collected 6 points from three matches, strengthening its position at the top of the table. Pakistan, meanwhile, has won two of its three matches, earning 4 points.
Losing the toss and batting first, India scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For India, opener Ishan Kishan delivered a brilliant performance, smashing 77 runs off 40 balls to put the team in a strong position.

India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs

Captain Suryakumar Yadav added 33 runs off 29 balls, holding the innings together for a while before being dismissed while attempting a big shot. Tilak Varma contributed 25 runs off 24 balls. Other batters, however, failed to perform as expected. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck in just 4 balls, while Hardik Pandya returned to the pavilion without scoring on his very first ball.

For Pakistan, Saim Ayub bowled impressively, taking three wickets and creating early pressure. India lost two wickets in the final over. Pakistan’s batting, however, looked fragile while chasing 176. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Pakistan was bundled out for 114 in 18 overs, handing India a comfortable victory.

With this win, India has maintained its dominance in Group ‘A’ and taken a strong step toward the semifinals.”
