Kathmandu. In a significant political signal, the government has identified a referendum on the monarchy and Hindu state as an agenda requiring immediate attention, according to a five-point letter sent to civil movement leader Durga Prasai.

The letter, issued by a high-level committee led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s chief adviser Ajaybhadra Khanal, responds to the 27-point demands raised by the Citizen Rescue Grand Campaign. It states that the government is committed to addressing key demands through dialogue while acknowledging that some issues involve legal, policy, and constitutional complexities requiring further study.
The government has also proposed continued dialogue between both sides and a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Karki and Prasai by mid-Poush 2082. The letter was formally signed and delivered to Prasai on Monday.
