Biratnagar — The Nepali Congress has recommended candidates from three out of five constituencies in Jhapa district for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Fagun 21. The spotlight is on Jhapa-5, the constituency of UML chair and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli, where the party has forwarded six aspirants.

The recommended names from Jhapa-5 include Medani Sitaula, Aindra Kerung, Khagendra Pandav Adhikari, Devi Dahal, Mandira Poudel, and Padam Poudel. Party General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma has been recommended unopposed from Jhapa-1, while Deuman Thebe and Uttam Chaulagain have been recommended from Jhapa-4.
No candidates have yet been recommended from Jhapa-2 and Jhapa-3. The Congress has tightened its selection criteria, enforcing strict rules on eligibility, inclusivity, and barring repeat proportional candidates and sitting local representatives.
