Kathmandu—Nepal Police have arrested an Indian national convicted in a kidnapping and illegal detention case who had escaped from Nakhu Prison during the Gen Z protest movement.
The arrested individual has been identified as 55-year-old Nipoun Gupta, son of Manorala Gupta, originally from India. According to police, Gupta escaped from Nakhu Prison on Bhadra 24 and had been absconding for nearly three months.
Based on intelligence inputs, a Morang police team arrested him from Biratnagar Metropolitan City–7 on Sunday night. Police said he will be transferred back to Nakhu Prison for further legal proceedings.
