Kathmandu—UML Standing Committee member Karn Thapa was reportedly abused by security personnel inside the party office at Chyasal, and a video of the incident has gone viral.

Thapa said he was heading to meet party chair KP Sharma Oli when some individuals assigned for the chairman’s security mistreated him. “I was asked by the chairman to come, but the people on security duty did not know how to behave politically,” he said.
UML spokesperson Rajendra Gautam described the incident as minor, saying such actions are to be expected from security personnel.
Thapa added that the behavior tarnishes the party’s image and has already been discussed with Chair Oli. He requested that inappropriate personnel not be assigned for security. The chairman has promised to look into the matter.
