Janakpurdhām—The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has initiated steps to remove Madhesh Minister Kanchan Vichcha from her provincial assembly membership after she defied party directives by joining the provincial government.

Vichcha, the party’s only proportional representative in the assembly, became a non-departmental minister under Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav on Kartik 24. On Mangsir 8, she was assigned the portfolio of Minister for Forests and Environment.
Despite the party’s orders to step down, she did not comply. RPP has now sent a formal notice to the provincial assembly, under Article 34 of the Political Parties Act 2073, to initiate action for her removal.
The letter, signed by RPP Chief Secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, was received by Deputy Speaker Babita Raut Ishar. She said the assembly will consult legal experts before issuing the official notice.
