Kathmandu- Former Maoist Centre Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, who did not join the party unification with CPN (Unified Socialist), has intensified his separate political activities in Chitwan. On Sunday, his group—Progressive National Campaign Nepal—announced its Chitwan district committee.
Deepak Shahi, a former member of the Maoist Centre Bagmati Province Secretariat, has been appointed district coordinator. Provincial member Rishi Chapagain and Bharatpur Deputy Mayor Pavitra Rijal are also active in the campaign. Sudarshan Paudel participated as the central representative.
Coordinator Shahi stated that the campaign focuses on good governance and anti-corruption, aiming to build a new type of political party and end leadership-centric politics.
By expanding his activities in Chitwan—also the home district of Maoist Chairman Prachanda—Sharma is working to strengthen his independent political presence outside both the Maoist Centre and the newly unified party.
