Kathmandu — The secretariat of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has strongly objected to the arson attacks on party offices and private residences of leaders. In a statement issued Thursday, the secretariat demanded action against those involved in such criminal activities.
The statement read: “On Bhadra 24, various groups attempted to discredit the Gen Z movement by creating terror, attacking party offices and private residences. At the Congress President’s residence, intruders broke in like robbers and launched a violent attack on Deuba, his wife Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and others.”

The secretariat dismissed claims circulating on social media that large sums of money, burnt banknotes, and underground cash tunnels were discovered inside Deuba’s residence. It clarified that the underground structure shown online was, in fact, a water tank.
Furthermore, the statement accused some groups of using technology to manipulate visuals of burnt notes from different times and places, spreading them on YouTube and other platforms with malicious intent. “These materials are fabricated and baseless, designed to defame the leadership,” the statement said.
