Kathmandu- Bhuvankumar Pathak, Speaker of the Bagmati Province Assembly, formally resigned from his post on Bhadra 30, 2082 (Wednesday). He submitted his resignation letter via WhatsApp to Deputy Speaker Apsara Chapagai.

Pathak had announced his resignation on social media on Bhadra 24, 2082, following widespread protests against corruption and the excessive use of force on Bhadra 23, 2082, citing deep grief over the human casualties. He explained that technical reasons prevented him from submitting the formal letter earlier.
In his resignation letter, Pathak stated that remaining in office during a period of national mourning, contrary to public sentiment and the aspirations of the youth, was inappropriate.
