Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has clarified that the government is not trying to shut down social media but only to bring it under the registration process.
Addressing the ongoing Statute Convention in Godawari after a group discussion report, Oli said the current situation arose because platforms ignored repeated government notices for over a year. He added that although the new generation understands dignity, law, and nationalism, they must remain cautious as social media can also be misused.
