Today is the birthday of youngest person to receive a nobel prize Malala Yousafzai

Today (Jul 12, 1997) is the birthday of Malala Yousafzai, the youngest person to win the Nobel Prize. Malala was attacked by the Taliban in Pakistan when she was 15 years old, where she spoke out about the right of girls to be educated. Malala and two of her friends were injured when militants attacked the school bus she was traveling in the north-western Swat Valley.

After the near-death experience, she and her family moved to Birmingham, which she later called her second home. She advocated the right of girls to study even in communities with strict Muslim laws. Appreciating this contribution, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in 17 years.

She later went to Oxford University to study and became a leading human rights activist. Malala, a Pakistani women’s rights activist, took refuge in the West Midlands region of England after being shot by the Taliban in 2012. Malala Yousafzai married her boyfriend in an Islamic ceremony in Birmingham, UK. Her husband, Aser Malik, is the manager at the National High Performance Center of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
